Deosai National Park is one such tourist attraction which is also considered to be the second-highest highland in the world. Spread over approximately 3,000 square kilometers, Deosai is decorated with hills, mountains, plains, lakes and rivers. The park was established back in 1993 with an aim to provide safe atmosphere for the endangered species. The park is located between Kharmang, Astore and Skardu. The park remains snow-bounded from November to May so the ideal time to visit this place is during June and July. The region gets hidden under a thick blanket of snow in winter. 


The Incredible beauty of Deosai is one of the most beautiful places of the world. The place can be reached by jeeps or through horses. The popularity of Deosai also lies in its unique flora and fauna. Deosai is home to several water bodies and Bara Pani and Kaala Pani are two streams that you must cross to reach the lake. Kaala Pani is shallow and you can pass it through jeep. Bara Pani can be crossed through a wooden bridge. Bara Pani is also famous as a fishing point where you get to enjoy trout fishing.


At Deosai National Park, you will get to see many endangered species including Brown Bear, Leopards and Markhors which usually appear at the nighttime. The local wildlife includes the Himalayan ibex, grey wolf, red fox, Ladakh urial, and golden marmot. 


You will be amazed by the magical landscape of Deosai which according to locals, bear 1400 different types of plants and flowers. The view of mountains surrounding the area is exceptional.


It is important to note that the elevation results in cold weather throughout the year and you might also find snowy spots within the park in the midst of the summer season. Thus, it is recommended to carry your warm clothes along with plenty of water, food and safety items if you plan on staying overnight at Deosai.
