Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday announced Rs1.1 trillion packages for Karachi's transformation and development and municipal infrastructure improvement 

 

 Prime minister of Pakistan met Sindh Governor Imran Ismael and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and presided a high level meeting of the Karachi Committee. the premier said the federal government and Sindh governments had decided to deal with Karachi's problems together resulting negotiations.


 

PM said that the federal and provincial governments were both contributing to the Rs1,100 billion packages for Karachi’s issues which include water supply, drainage, sewage, public transportations and solid waste disposal and would be addressed at once on permanent basis.

 

He further said that floods caused by heavy rains have hit not only Karachi but interior Sindh, Part of Balochistan province, Swat, Parts of Punjab, Lahore and his own constituency of Mianwali. For issues resolutions, all stakeholders will be involved in its implementation and the government will take its responsibilities to help the civilian administration, departments and people whenever there is a calamity.

 

"The package we have brought for Karachi is historic," Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan said.

 

"There is a heavy encroachment on drains which has created a catastrophic situation during recent rains in the city. We will initiate a drive to demolish illegal structures on nullahs and on its edges. The homeless, poorest people who will be displaced will be compensated by the Sindh government," Prime Minister said

 

Among several Karachi’s issues, the first problem the plan will address is of water supply, the second problem is of encroachments, the third and fourth issues that the plan will focus on are concern the city's sewerage system and solid waste disposal

 

The Prime Minister arrived Karachi earlier today with accompanied by federal ministers, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) officials and several other government and party leaders. PM also met Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Chief Minister Sindh during this historic visit of the city to address Karachi's issues with a solid plan.

 

PM Imran Khan said that the coordination committee was made regarding locust attacks and now the Centre and provincial government had decided to work jointly to resolve Karachi's current issues.
