The Supreme Court of Pakistan has declared the lease agreement of Royal Palm Golf and Country Club null & void and ordered to hand over the possessions of club back to Pakistan Railways
Supreme court bench comprising Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan Sheikh Justice Azmat Saeed and Justice Faisal Arbab issued the verdict at the Supreme Court Lahore Registry.
The Supreme court bench directed the chartered accountant firm which is seeing the businesses of the club as to transfer the management of the Golf club to the Pakistan Railways in a week
The court ordered the railways administration to handle all the affairs of the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club, and to determine rules and regulations regarding the new management in three months.
The solicitors resisted that the land belonging to the Pakistan Railways was leased out in a highly non-transparent manner without adopting standard process in club transitions
Same time, management of Pakistan Railways was instructed to manage all matters and business of the club in greatest possible manner to make it viable
